Career Goals

The following roles serve as benchmark target positions that exemplify my long-term career trajectory that follows the  computer science degree pathway, focusing on complex systems and technical leadership.

Perception Engineer (LiDAR)

Company: Vaco LLC / Highspring

Location: Tampa, FL (Onsite)

Pay Scale: $115,000–$130,000 annually

Key Responsibilities: Processing sensor data to interpret the environment; developing and tuning LiDAR perception algorithms; collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve autonomous or assisted driving systems; debugging and optimizing perception pipelines.

Required Skills: C++, LiDAR processing, ROS, computer vision, data structures and algorithms, problem-solving

Why This Role Interests Me: LiDAR is an interesting technology and being able to work with it/improve it would be exciting. Not only that, but this job is one to show how widespread the need for software engineers is and I am confident I could learn this technology.

Software Engineer – Technical Lead, Tetragon (Cisco Isovalent)

Company: Cisco (Child Company: Isovalent)

Location: Not specified (likely remote-friendly)

Salary: $210,600–$305,100 annually

Directing development for Tetragon to deliver deep cloud-native observability. Leading teams in building advanced kernel-level security tools.

Required Skills: System architecture, Go, kernel-level observability, cloud-native security, leadership

Why This Role Interests Me: Cisco's reputation as a global leader in networking and cybersecurity aligns with my goal of becoming a Software Engineer as my skills could used widely throughout the company. This role in particular is interesting to me though due to Tetragon being a relatively new addition to Cisco's portfolio being integrated in mid-2025

Software Engineer, Mobile iOS, Maps

Company: Google

Location: San Francisco, CA or Mountain View, CA (Onsite)

Salary: $147,000–$211,000 annually

Key Responsibilities: Write product and system development code; participate in or lead design reviews; review code from other developers; contribute to documentation and educational content; triage and debug product or system issues across hardware, network, and services.

Required Skills: iOS development (Objective-C), iOS SDKs, data structures and algorithms, mobile app development, API design, accessible technologies, problem-solving, collaboration
